For his debut at the golden Musikvereinssaal in Vienna he played Dvorak´s Cello Concerto under Franz Welser-Moest, a television live broadcast shown in 8 countries within Europe.
Born in Vienna, Wolfgang Panhofer had studied at the Vienna Academy and at the Royal Northern College of Music with Ralph Kirshbaum. He had masterclasses with Paul Tortelier, William Pleeth, Boris Pergamenschikow and Steven Isserlis, chamber music he studied with Andras Schiff and the Amadeus Quartet.
At the age of 17 he was one of the youngest members to play with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has performed concerts throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the US under conductors like Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Franz Welser Moest, Martin Sieghart, Cornelius Meister, Jerzy Maksymiuk and Hans Zender (first performance of his cello concerto).
He plays with major orchestras like Vienna Symphony, BBC Symphony, Budapest Symphony, Niederösterreichische Tonkünstler Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Grazer Philharmonic and many others. 2000 he played his debut at the Carnegie Hall, New York, 2012 in the Tschaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow.
2013 he will play with Vladimir Fedoseeyev and the Tschaikowsky Orchestra.
For the 150th Birthday Anniversary Concert of Antonin Dvorak at the Vienna Konzerthaus he was invited to play with Josef Suk, Dvorak´s greatgrandson.
 He just recorded all Beethoven Sonatas for the american label MMO and „WolfgangConcerto“ with the Slovene Soloists Orchestra – dedicated to him by M.Mihevc.
He is a sought guest of international festivals. Many composers have written for him. He teaches masterclasses all over the world (Europe, USA, Asia, where he was guest professor at the University of Kwang You, Korea.)
Often he is juror in national and international competitions.
