Dimitris Klonis

 
Dimitris Klonis was born in Athens in 1984. At the age of 14, he starts studying drums under the guidance of Petros Dachtylidis and John Floros who passes on to him the drum heritage of the great Alan Dawson. In 2010, after graduating from the National Technical University of Athens, he is accepted in both the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Rotterdam Jazz Academy (Codarts). He decides to study at the first one for a short period of time where he has lessons with Lucas Van Merwijk, Maurcel Serierse και Victor Oskam.
Dimitris has also attended jazz harmony lessons with Gregorios Batsis and has a diploma of classical harmony (2009) and counterpoint (2012) under the supervision of professor Orestis Chatzinakis. He has also studied privately and/or attended clinics by Adam Nussbaum, Jojo Mayer and Akira Jimbo.
Dimitris has played as a sideman with various renowned artists of the domestic jazz scene like Takis Paterelis, George Kontrafouris, Yiotis Samaras, Kostas Konstantinou, Dimitris Sevdalis, Vassos Dimitriou, of the world jazz scene like Femi Temowo (Roots, Amy Winehouse), Michael Weisberger (Milo Z), Yoel Soto, Adedeji Adetayo and Aline de Lima and of the domestic pop scene like Foivos Delivorias, Martha Frintzila and Petros Theotokatos.
During this time he lives in Athens where he works as a full-time musician playing in numerous jazz ensembles, recording and teaching.
