Born in Antwerp in 1990, Yannick Van de Velde very soon devotes himself to music. He studied, and is still studying with prof. Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and prof. Jan Michiels. Currently Yannick is also studying with prof. klaus Hellwig at the "Universität der Kunste" , Berlin. 
Yannick also attains several Master Classes with professors such as Pavel Gililov, Paul-Badura Skoda, Menahem Pressler, Karl-heinz Kammerling, Brigitte Engerer,  Kum Sing Lee, Evgeny Moguilevsky, Vitaly Samoshko, Frank Braley, Evgeny Koroliov  Rudolf Buchbinder, Ivan Klansky  and many others. 
As a chamber musician, he played concerts together with artists as Nobuko Imai, Frans Helmerson, Michel Arrignon, Zakhar Bron, ...
  Yannick successfully participated in many national and international competitions. At the age of ten, he immediately won his first competition 'Tenuto' in the age degree up to 18 years. Furthermore he ended 1st in the 'Cantabile' Competition (Antwerp) in 2004 and 2006, 1st in the International Epta Competition (Liège), winner of the International Solists Competition in Verviers (2006),1st in the Rotary International Competition (2007), and 2nd in the  Steinway Competition. 
 
Yannick Van de Velde has played concertos of Mozart, Beethoven, Grieg, Chopin, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Bartok, Ravel, Rachmaninoff and many others. He performed with conductors such as Etienne Siebens, Erich Lederhändler, Walter Proost, Ivo Venkov... with orchestras such as Il Nuovo Musici, Symfonieorkest van Vlaanderen, Orkest der Lage Landen, Brussels Chamber Orchestra, Bruoscella Orchestra...
At the age of 12 he made his first TV appereance on the national Belgium television VRT, many followed.
 
In 2006 (year of Mozart), he played Mozart concerto n.20 and the concerto  for 2 pianos at the Monnaie Grand Hall, broadcast  for television and radio all over Europe. Furthermore, Yannick performed at the Centre for Fine Arts and at Flagey in Brussels, at the Singel and at the Elizabethzaal in Antwerp, Salle Paligraff in Nancy (France),  Stätttheater in Schaffhausen (Switserland) Casa da Musica (Portugal), sala argenta in Palacio festivales Santander (Spain). He performed recitals in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Switserland, Portugal, Italia, Spain and Bulgari.
In 2010, Yannick was selected as Belgium representant on the International Harmos Festival where he performed in the prestigious concerthall ‘Casa da Musica’, inPorto, Portugal.  He was also invited in 2012 at the Festival of Santander (Spain), and will be playing again in 2013 (with artists such as Wolram Christ, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Ivan Monighetti and Peter Csaba).
In 2012, Yannick was given the Chopin prize at the Brussels Town Hall, a prize from the International Chopin Foundation.
