In 1993 Ferdinand von Plettenberg earned a first Price at the International Mozart Competition by the Stateopera Budapest. His Engagements brought him to the Opera Houses of Budapest and Prag, the Theater des Westens Berlin, Neue Oper Wien, Sommeroperette Schloss Schönbrunn, Wiener Klangbogen, Teatro Lirico d‘Europa, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Landestheater Coburg, Dessau, Neustrelitz, Flensburg, Salzburg, the Volksoper Wien, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, München, Theater Luzern, Switzerland.
In 2009 von Plettenberg was Cover for the Parts of Stolzing and Florestan at the Festival of Erl/ Tirol.
At the same time he was invited to numerous Festivals such as Erl/Tirol, „Niederösterreichische Kulturszene St. Pölten“, Haydn- Festival Eisenstadt and Concert Halls in Japan, the Netherlands as well as the Wiener Musikverein, Konzerthaus Wien, Konzerthaus Berlin, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Herkulessaal Munich. He regularly performes in concerts on an international basis (f.e. Austria, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, Japan).
Ferdinand von Plettenberg has aquired a broad concert- repertoire which ranges from Bach, Händel, Haydn Brothers, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Bruckner, Rossini, Verdi to Kurt Weill and Eugene Hartzell, who especially composed the Cycle „An das Licht“ on poems by Wolfgang Klähn for him.
Ferdinand von Plettenberg has sung all major Mozart roles and has enlarged his repertoire in close cooperation with his voice teacher Antonio Carangelo by parts such as Don Carlo, Don José (Carmen), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Florestan (Fidelio), Eric (Holländer), Lohengrin and Stolzing (Meistersinger).
