The 26-year-old Yamaha Young Performing Artist winner and National Flute Association Jazz Master Class winner Kalani Trinidad, has captivated jazz followers around the world with his remarkable flute performance. Kalani, a jazz composer, has shared his talent with well known Jazz musicians like Miguel Zenon, Mario Rivera, Justo Almario, John Benitez, Nestor Torres, Dave Valentin, Humberto Ramirez, Cachao, Paquito D’ Rivera, Alex Acuña, Eddie Palmierie and Earth Wind & Fire just to name a few. Winner of the 2005 Yamaha Young Performing Artist award in flute division heald in Chicago, Illinois. In three occasions, Berklee College of Music in Boston awarded Kalani with the outstanding musicianship recognition award. One of his greatest achievements was in 2006, Berklee College of Music awarded the Kalani with the Presidential Scholarship (only 5 student’s worldwide receive this great honor every year and Kalani is the first puertorican to achieve this honor). With a warm smile and low voice, recipient of the prestigious Presidential Scholarship to attend Berklee School of Music in Boston, this young artist has a lot to offer. Travel the whole world and share my talent with great jazz players is my dream, the young flautist was born in Dallas Texas in November 27,1987 and moved to Puerto Rico when he was only 4-years-old, by listening to his father, pianist Richard Trinidad, the music of Chick Corea and compositions of Brazilian singer composer Carlos Antonio Jobim, Kalani was interested in learning music. During his flute lessons at age 8 his natural talent and love for music was discovered. In 2011, flautist Kalani Trinidad made one of his most important accomplishments; he recorded his debut album “CROSSING BRIDGES” in New York City. The album has eight original compositions written by Kalani Trinidad. A good selection of styles; fusion, samba, jazz ballad and flamenco made this album a masterpiece. Latin Beat Magazine made this album a pick of the month for June and July 2011. Musicians in the album are Alex Acuña on percussion, John Benitez on bass, Alex Brown on piano, Paoli Mejias congas, Henry Cole drums and his father Richard Trinidad piano Music is like painting, pick the right musical colors and with a nice combination you end up with a great musical portrait. Kalani has his own quartet and he composes his own music because he believes that is the best way to share your real feelings. The Government of Puerto Rico awarded Kalani with a recognition for his featured on “Puertorro”. achievements in music.
