Jalli Lamin Kuyateh is a traditional griot who plays and sings solo but also with his wonderfull Kuyateh ensemble.
Jalli Lamin Kuyateh was born in 1964 in The Gambia as the oldest son of a griot family. Jalli means Griot and they are singing history. He started playing the Kora at the early age of 5. Lamin plays the Kora the way his father, grandfather and grand grandfather did. In 1993 he started his international carreer. He became a member of the famous group from The Gambia, Ifang Bondi and was a leading musician in the traditional Tiramakhan Ensemble. Lamin is creating songs by himself about history, social problems, politics, life, love and peace.
