Nora Amanda Gundersen is a classical guitarist from the island Askøy, near to Bergen at the west coast of Norway. She started playing the guitar around the age of 10, and one of her first teachers, Tino Andersen, encouraged her to continue towards a professional carreer in music. As a teenager she won 2nd prize in 2002 and 1st prize in 2004 in the national Norwegian youth competition for classical instrumentalists in Oslo (UMM). She gave her first solo recital in 2005 in Harstad during the festival Festspillene i Nord-Norge. Since then she has given many concerts in many countries as a soloist and a chamber musician, such as during the Bergen International Guitarfestival (Now called Norwegian Guitar Festival) where she played together with the famous brazilian guitarist Fabio Zanon. She has also played with the national french opera in Strasbourg (Opéra du Rhin). She is a member of the ensemble Il Forum Musicale with base in Luxembourg.
Nora Amanda has participated in many masterclasses all over Europe and worked with artists such as Marcin Dylla, Pavel Steidl, Zoran Dukic, Ricardo Gallen, Grahan Devine, Odair Assad and Irina Kulikova.
After being part of the young talentprogram at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, she started her studies there with Stein Erik Olsen as teacher. 2 years later she went to continue her studies in France, at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg, in the class of the spanish guitarist Susana Prieto and the greek Alexis Muzurakis (Duo Melis). In Strasbourg she also started playing the lute - renaissancelute and theorbo, with Yasunori Imamura as teacher. After she finished her Bachelor degree in musicology and performance in Strasbourg, she did a master program at the University of Alicante (Spain), where she received lessons from personalities such as David Russell, Hopkinson Smith, Nigel North, Manuel Barrueco, Ignacio Rodes, Roberto Aussel and Carles Trepat.
Then she went back to Strasbourg to do a post graduate diploma (Diplôme de Spécalisation), specializing in the romantic and classical repertore for the guitar played on a historical instrument.
Nora is one of the founders of the guitar society Tremolo- guitare classique à Strabourg. She is teaching classical guitar at Ecole de Musique de Truchtersheim in Alsace, near Strasbourg. She has a french state diploma (DE) in musical pedagogy as well.
