Born in a family of musicians, the romanian bass Octavian Vlaicu graduated the Music Academy in Timisoara becoming engaged at the Opera House from the same city in the year 1997, today beeing one of the pillars of this Opera House.
His repertoire includes roles as Mephistopheles in "Faust" by Ch. Gounod, Raimondo in "Lucia di Lammermoor" by G. Donizetti, Sparafucille from "Rigoletto", Ferrando in "Il Trovatore" Ramfis in "Aida" by G. Verdi, Oroveso in "Norma" by V. Bellini, Don Bartolo in "Le nozze di Figaro" by W. A. Mozart, Don Basilio in"Il barbiere di Siviglia "by G. Rossini, Colline in" La Boheme ", Timur in" Turandot " Hennry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" by Fr. Loewe, Frank in "Die Fledermaus" by J. Strauss. He obtained a number of major awards at various international singing competitions such as the International Singing Competition "Sabin Dragoi" from Timisoara and the International Singing Competition "Hariclea Darclee" from Braila.
He performed with the National Opera House from Timisoara a series of artistic tours in Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Austria, France, Africa.
