Born in Israel, 1987
Graduated his studies in The Buchmann-Mehta School of music at the Tel-Aviv University with Prof. Hillel Zori, and was granted the Bachelor of Music Degree of Cello playing. Completed his studies for the "Diplom" degree in the Hochschule für Musik in Köln, Germany, with Prof. Claus Kanngiesser. In June 2012 Ofer completed his Master degree studies of Cello playing in the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, Austria, with Prof. Clemens Hagen and was granted the opportunity to continue his studies in the Post-graduate program.
In addition, Ofer was studying regularly with Prof. Uzi Wiesel in many occasions in Israel, Europe and Australia.Ofer has performed his Debut Recital in the Carnegie-Hall, New-York in February, 2010. Performed as a soloist with Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss, Georgische Kammerorchester Ingolstadt, Jenaer Philharmonie, Moscow Chamber Orchestra of the Slobotkin Center, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, Trevisso Chamber Orchestra and others, and regularly performs in recitals around Israel and Europe. Recorded numerous times as a soloist and with different chamber groups in the Israeli classical-music Radio station "Kol Hamusika". Ofer performs in many occasions Israeli compositions such as Paul Ben-Haim Cello Concerto, "Kaddish" by M. Kopitman and "Confession" by N. Sheriff.Third prize winner of the “Bucchi” International Competition for Cello playing in the 20th-21st centuries, Rome, 2011. Second prize winner of the "Enerico Mainardi Competition", Salzburg 2012. Won the Buchman-Mehta school of music competitions in the Solo instrument and Chamber music categories as well as special prizes in the "Allegro Vivo" festival in Austria, and the "Paul Ben-Haim" competition in Israel. Winner with excellence of the American-Israeli cultural foundation scholarship and from 2007 was granted the prestigious scholarship for studies abroad.Throughout his studies, Ofer attended master-classes and lessons with artists such as Prof. Uzi Wiesel, prof. Bernard Greenhouse, prof. Janos Starker, prof. Wolfgang Boettcher, prof. Anner Bylsma, prof. Tsutsumi Tsuyoshi, prof. Gary Hoffman, prof. Jens Peter Mainz and many others.As a chamber music player, Ofer is regularly invited to perform in concerts and festivals and had the opportunity to perform with appreciated players such as Howard Klug, Claus Kanngiesser, Rudolf Koelman, Ludwig Mueller, Tomer Lev, Vladimir Ivanov, Daniel Ottensamer, Risto Laurialla and the "Aviv" quartet. Ofer performs regularly with his father, Robert Canetti, as soloists and chamber music. Since 2011, Ofer is one of the founding members of the "Testore Quartet". With them he had performed in many concert venues and festivals around Europe including in the "Radio Culture House" in Vienna and the Brucknerhaus in Linz.As an Orchestra musician Ofer had the opportunity to join the Cellists of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the mutual program of the IPO and the Buchmann-Mehta School of music. In those opportunities he had the privilege of playing with Maestro Daniel Barenboim, Maestro Zubin Mehta, Maestro Yo Yo Ma, Maestro Maxim Vengerov and others in Israel and Europe. Ofer was a member of the Orchester Akademie Ossiach program, where he worked with members of the Vienna Philharmonic. Since 2010 is a principal Cellist in the "Salzburg Chamber Soloists" and the EU sponsored "PurPur" Orchestra in Croatia. As a guest principal cellist, was invited to the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway, the Kammerakademie Neuss, Germany, and the Tel-Aviv Soloist Ensemble in Israel. In 2014 Ofer was one of the principal cellists of the Jenaer Philharmonie, Germany.From 2013, Ofer is regularly invited to teach in master-classes and festivals, such as in the high Conservatory in Tbilisi, Georgia, and in the "Haliati Masterclasses" in Slovenia, and has many opportunities to enrich the educational activities that he pursues also privately.
