About Sabina Dascalu


Sabina Dascalu is a romanian violinist based in Vienna, member of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and Solists of Vienna Chamber Orchestra, performing regularly in Europe, Asia, South America. She is a member of Max Steiner Orchestra and Synchron Stage Orchestra, both orchestras specialized in film music recordings.

After succesfully winning the audition for a violin position in Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra in 2019, she started travelling regularly to Asia for orchestra projects.

In addition to her appearances as a soloist, chamber music has become an important aspect of Sabina's artistic work. She is currently a member of Duo Cassiopea and Colors of Music Quartet.

Between 2015-2018, Dascalu worked as a violin teacher at "International Musikschule Wien" and "Studio Allegria". She is currently teaching private violin lessons.

Born in Bucharest, Romania, Sabina Dascalu began her first violin lessons at the age of 6. She studied in Bucharest at ''G. Enescu'' music highschool as well as in Vienna, at the University of Music and Performing Arts, in the class of Prof. Christian Altenburger (violin), Prof. Johannes Meissl (chamber music). She became Magistra artium in 2015, after graduating with the highest distinction. In 2016 followed a postgraduate specialization in baroque violin with Prof. Hiro Kurosaki. She attended numerous masterclasses with members of Wiener Philharmoniker, Oslo String Quartet, Marianne Piketty, Jose Vazquez. Over the years, she performed at well-known festivals such as A. Prokopp Summeracademy of Wiener Philharmoniker in Salzburg, Summer Music Academy Schloß Hundisburg, Sonoro Chamber Music Festival, with many ensembles, covering a wide range of chamber music repertoire. Sabina Dascalu has been awarded numerous prizes at international violin competitions and scholarships including the Dr. Boesch Foundation.
